Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim, two members of the Israeli embassy staff, were killed outside an event at the Jewish Capital Museum in Washington, DC, on Wednesday night, according to Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar.
The young couple were not diplomatic, but Lischinsky was a researcher in the political department of the Israeli embassy, and Milgrim organized the US missions to Israel.
“The couple who was killed tonight was about to commit,” said Yechiel Leiter, Israeli ambassador to the United States, during the press conference. “The young man bought a ring this week with the intention of proposing next week in Jerusalem.”

Ron Prosor, Israel ambassador to Germany and friend of Lischinsky, described the two victims as a “young couple with a brilliant future planning their lives together.”

Lischinsky boy
Lischinsky, who was born in Nuremberg, Germany, was a Christian, and a “true lover of Israel” who “chose to dedicate his life to the state of Israel and the Zionist cause,” Prosor He said in x.
The son of a Jewish father and a Christian-evangelist mother, Lischinsky left Germany and arrived in Israel with his brother when he was 16, according to Ronen Shoval, head of the Institute of Conservative Studies of Argamán in Jerusalem, where Lischinsky attended an advanced program. In his LinkedIn profile, Lischinsky wrote that he had the “privilege of calling Jerusalem and Nuremberg my home.”
“He was a man of faith, his Christian faith took seriously. He was asking the great questions of life and looked at himself as someone who wants to be part of the history of the Jewish people,” Shoval told Abc News.
During his work in the last two years as a research assistant at the Israeli embassy in Washington, DC, Lischinsky was responsible for “keeping the updated department on important events in the Middle East. & North Africa, conducting research on topics of interest for our diplomatic personnel, link with other diplomatic missions, maintaining relations with the local community of Think Tank and helping to organize delegation visits from several Israeli ministries “, according to their LinkedIn profile.
He received a master’s degree in Government, Diplomacy and Strategy of the University of Reichman in Herzliya, Israel, and a degree in International Relations and Asian Studies of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, said his profile. It was fluid in English, Hebrew and German.

Sarah Lynn Milgrim
Milgrim worked in the Public Diplomacy Department of the Embassy for almost two years, as of November 2023, according to her LinkedIn profile.
He described herself as a “dynamic professional”, saying that his passion is “at the intersection of the consolidation of peace, religious commitment and environmental work,” said his profile. She was an American citizen, according to Associated Press.

Tech2peace said in a statement On Thursday, Milgrim was a “devout and active volunteer in our community” and was a “deeply curious person.”
